About Me
Carmel Diviney lives in Dublin and ran her own busy Montessori School for seventeen years before deciding to devote herself full time to teaching a range of Holistic modalities. She is a Master Sound Therapist and Tutor, Reiki Grand Master, Indigenous Herbalist, Advanced Celtic Shamanic Practitioner, Shamanic Counsellor, Author and Recording Artist.
Carmel has been working in the field of holistic health for over 25 years, starting her journey with Reiki and adding other healing modalities such as Crystals, Earth Healing, Aromatherapy, Celtic Shamanism, and most importantly, Sound Therapy as her journey progressed. She began teaching Usui Reiki and Sound Therapy at Reiki Sound Healing Dublin in 2010 and in 2015 upgraded her offerings with the unveiling of the Celtic School of Sound Healing.
Carmel's lifelong interest in all things ancient weaves it's way through her teachings, reconnecting students to their ancient Celtic and Pre Celtic roots. She has so far completed over 20 years of shamanic studies which took her to various lands in pursuit of deepening and understanding her ancient spiritual roots, including ancient sites all over Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, UK, Isle of Man, Egypt, Eastern Europe and France.
Carmel has helped hundreds of people to get on the path to self healing over the years, as well as helping hundreds more onwards to establishing their own healing Practices. Celtic School of Sound Healing has hosted students from all over Ireland and UK, as well as internationally from as far away as USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, France, Germany, Italy and Holland. Many of these students travelled to Ireland seeking to connect with their Celtic roots and to work on the land at ancient sites under Carmel's guidance.
Celtic School of Sound Healing's trained the first female Sound Therapist in Saudi Arabia after she completed Carmel's Gong Master workshop in Ireland in 2018!
Reiki
Carmel completed her Reiki Master Degree with Green Tara College in Navan Co Meath in 2003. She is now a Reiki Grand Master creating her own courses.
Herbalism
Carmel graduated as a Herbalist from Brighid's Academy of Healing Arts in Mullingar after completing four years of study in the Arts and Sciences of Botanical Medicine in 2017.
Shamanism
Carmel began her Druidic studies as a teenager which followed into her twenties with travels around Ireland and abroad in search of ancient indigenous wisdom and mystery teachings. She began her first official Druid training in Ireland with Arch Druid Mel Lloyd in 2002 and was initiated by him as Arch Druid herself in 2012. Carmel also began her official Shamanic studies side by side with Druidry in 2003 at Green Tara College with Majella Fagan, Navan. She completed the Advanced Shamanic Practitioner Certification with the Irish Centre for Shamanic Studies in 2015 with Martin Duffy and Annette Peard and went on to obtain certification to practice as a Shamanic Counsellor in 2019. She is currently in ongoing study with Betsy Bergstrom in the Völva, Vala Norn and Seidr practices of Norse tradition.
Sound Therapy
After five years as an already established Sound Therapist and Tutor, Carmel undertook her official Gong Master Training with world renowned Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux and Tone of Life in 2015. It was a great honour for her to host the Grand Gong Master himselfm along with Gong Maestro Aidan McIntyre in Ireland for a GMT Intensive in 2022, and for her, this was the peak of her career in Sound Therapy. She us very proud to have provided this opportunity for her students.
World Music
As well as her deep interest in Celtic studies, Carmel has a keen interest in World Music. In 2015 she attended a clay instrument making workshop with Argentinian musical archaeologist Estaban Valdivia in Poland as part of her Gong Master Training with Tone of Life. She enthusiastically participated in the making of clay instruments which sing the ancient songs of ancestral spirits. This was a deep shamanic journey for her from forming the instruments of clay, to firing them in intense heat. The process was accompanied by a powerful ethnic healing ceremony.
In 2017 it was the Magdalene adventures that called from the Cathar lands of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in the South of France. Here she explored the Occitan home of the famous Troubadours, the musicians and poets of medieval times whose compositions sang of chivalry and courtly love. She explored the acoustics in many of the castles and caves there as well as forests that presented themselves on this magical adventure.
In 2018 Carmel travelled to Egypt and chanted in the Great Pyramid of Giza as well as the Temple of Hathor at Denderra. This formed part of her exploration of ancient harmonics at sacred temples.
In 2019 she hosted Maori Ancestral Musician Oro Atua Jerome during a workshop in Dublin where he shared unique and rare indigenous instruments of the natural world, sourced from the mountains, rivers, land and sea of his homeland in New Zealand. His sharing of ancestral myth and folklore giving his audience an even greater understanding of the healing power of nature and
vibrational sounds.
Temple of Brighid
In 2023 Carmel returned to her Celtic roots with the unveiling of the Temple of Brighid which provides a year and a day exclusive immersion in ancient -to- modern Irish spirituality in the Druidic, Celtic Rose Priestess lineage. Year 2 of this training is for advanced participants who have completed year one. For Carmel, this is the pinnacle of her spiritual offerings after decades of dedicated research, learning and experience.
